In celebration of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary of American Independence, these tours will highlight:
Graves of Revolutionary War soldiers and Malden’s role in the fight for independence
Stories of notable residents, founding families, and early leaders
Beautifully carved 17th-century gravestones—some of the finest examples in the nation
Burial customs and traditions of the 17th and 18th centuries
Each tour lasts approximately 90 minutes, rain or shine, and is best suited for adults and children ages 10+. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
These tours are made possible by a Malden Community Connections grant from the City of Malden.

On September 3, the Malden Historical Society will open its newest exhibit, “Decades of Malden Brides,” which draws on the Society’s collections to showcase bridal fashion from the 1880s to the 2000s. Everyone is welcome to attend an opening reception on Wednesday September 3 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Library’s Converse Memorial Building, where curators Anthony Dickinson and John Tramondozzi will present the exhibit and answer questions.

Join us on Thursday, November 7, at 6:30 PM at the Malden Public Library for a special presentation, "Malden Ancestors and New Technologies at Bell Rock Burying Ground." This event
highlights an exciting collaboration between Harvard archaeology professor Dr. Jason Ur and Malden historian Mark Linehan.
After years of leading surveys in the Middle East, Dr. Ur has brought his expertise to New England, using drone technology to create 3D models of historical burying grounds. Mark Linehan, an
experienced local historian and tour guide, has further enriched this research by connecting the lives of early Maldonians to the Bell Rock site. Together, they’ll discuss unique findings,
cutting-edge methods, and how this research benefits the City of Malden.
This talk is part of the Malden Historical Society’s ongoing efforts to celebrate and preserve our history. We’re proud to commemorate Malden’s 375th anniversary this year!
May is the time for the Society's Annual Meeting which includes a report on the past year's events and the election of officers. It is not all work though. We will be having an interesting talk. Watch this space for more information on it.
